Ancien masque Baba. Le masque Baba est porté avec une longue jupe de feuilles de pandanus et un collier de fruits colorés. Le baba fait partie du monde des esprits et sert à effrayer et à éloigner les non-initiés des préparatifs pour les cérémonies d'initiation. Le baba porte toujours une longue lance qu'il utilise (symboliquement) pour faire respecter les lois qui gouvernent les non-initiés.Vannerie en joncs, pigments naturels et apparemment peinture. Old Baba mask. The baba mask is worn with a long pandanus leaf skirt and a necklace of colorful fruit. The baba is related to the spirit world and is used to frighten the uninitiated away from the preparations for the initiation ceremonies.The costumed dancer always carries a long spear and uses it (symbolically) to enforce the rules governing the non-inititated. Weaven rush, natural pigments and apparently paint. Used patina. Rare. High quality item.
