Extrémité de poteau de case ou sculpture de faîtage ( pièce enfourchée sur un support vertical ou horizontal ). Pièce très originale et de grande qualité collectée sur les berges du fleuve Sépik dans le nord de la Papouasie Nouvelle Guinée. Représentation de deux animaux totémiques : le crocodile, symbole de puissance et représentant l'origine de l'humanité, et l'oiseau (ici paradisier), symbole du monde spirituel de l'au dela et des ancêtres. Bois sans pigments. Belle patine. Restaurations discrètes à deux endroits (voir photos). Pièce unique.

Edge of a hunt post or a final roof carving (carvind engaged on an other vertical or horizontal post). Very original and good quality item collected on sepik river edges in north part of Papua new guinea. Two main mytic animals represented : the crocodile symbole of power and of the origins of humanity, and the bird (paradise bird) symbole of spirit world. Wood with no pigments. Interrested patina. Discret restaurations in two parts (see photos). Single item.
