KINA ORNAMENT

Monnaie d'échange traditionnelle papoue appelée "Kina" avec son cordon d'origine. Cette monnaie traditionnelle prestigieuse est exhibée et échangée lors d'évènements importants. Le coquillage (kina : pinctada maxima, huitre perlière) est une monnaie traditionnelle ayant donné son nom à la devise papoue actuelle... La résine naturelle apposée à l'arrière, en partie basse, permettait au danseur de ne pas de blesser avec le bord coupant du coquillage.  Vendue avec un socle.

Traditionnal papuan ornament called "Kina" with its original cordon. Collected in Mount Hagen, in Highlands area, center part of Papua new guinea. This kind of ornament is symbol of prosperity, and is a very prestigious currency that is exchanged during very special events. The kina shell is a traditionnal papuan money. Shell pictada maxima, cauris shells, weaved vegetal fibers, natural resin and red pigments.  Sold with its base.
