Intéressante proue de pirogue collectée dans la région des lacs Murik à l'embouchure du fleuve Sépik. Présence de deux visages stylisés janus dont un représentant un ancêtre mi homme mi oiseau. Traces et manques d'usage. Montée sur socle.

Interesting canoe prow showing 2 faces janus, with one of them which referred to ancestor half human half bird. The canoe remains nowadays the most usual means of locomotion in the valley of the Sepik river. Most of those canoe used in the regions of low and middle Sepik have a carved prow.
