DESCRIPTIF / DESCRIPTION :
Monnaie traditionnelle papoue. Art océanien.
The people of Yangoru village manufacture masks of wickerwork and attach them to the shells of giant "Turbo marmoratus" snails, which they purchase from the coastal tribes. The complete object is then kept and used by the Yangoru or traded to the Iatmul, who use these strange, composite works of art as bride prices. Boiken area. Traditional currency. Oceanic art.
