Bouclier cérémoniel particulièrement décoratif collecté dans le village de Urunbanj situé dans la région des Monts Washkuk en Papouasie Nouvelle Guinée. Représentation de dessins tribaux évoquant des animaux et plantes totémiques, et notamment une chauve-souris appellée "roussette". Armature en osier, spathe de palmier sagoutier, pigments et peinture. Poignée fragilisée.

Representation of tribal patterns evoking animals and totemic plants and especially a flying fox called "roussette". Wicker frame, sago palm spathe, pigments and paint. Fragile handle.
