KINA SHELL CURRENCY

Monnaie d'échange traditionnelle papoue appelée "Kina" avec son cordon d'origine. Cette monnaie traditionnelle prestigieuse est exhibée et échangée lors d'évènements importants. Le coquillage (kina : pinctada maxima, huitre perlière) est une monnaie traditionnelle ayant donné son nom à la devise papoue actuelle... Restes de résine naturelle en partie arrière qui avait pour objectif de protéger le danseur des bords coupants du coquillgage. Traces et manques d'usage. Soclage possible sur demande (40 euros en sus).

Traditionnal papuan ornament called "Kina" with its original cordon. Collected in Mount Hagen, in Highlands area, center part of Papua new guinea. This kind of ornament is symbol of prosperity, and is a very prestigious currency that is exchanged during very special events. The kina shell necklace is a traditionnal papuan money. Shell pictada maxima, cauris shells, weaved vegetal fibers and red pigments.  Remnants of natural resin in the back part which had the objective of protecting the dancer from the sharp edges of the shell. Base on request only (40 euros extra costs).
