Porte crâne papou collecté dans le Golfe papou (côte Sud). Les portes crânes servaient à exhiber les crânes des enemis pour conjurer les mauvais sort de vengance. Les crânes étaient alors suspendus par des liens en osier ou autres fibres naturelles aux deux crochets centraux de ce type de sculpture. Ces objets rituels posséderaient une puissance surnaturelle permettant de protéger la tribu contre les esprits malins. Ce type d'objet très esthétique et toujours exposé dans les Haus Tambaran est devenu de nos jours purement symbolique et sert aujourd'hui à exiber tels des trophés les crânes des petits rongeurs ou oppossum chassés . Bel objet de décoration ethnique authentique. Difficile à collecter car en voie de disparition ... Bois, fibres et pigments naturels.
