DESCRIPTIF / DESCRIPTION :
Statue représentant un ancêtre typique du village de Mindimbit dans la vallée du fleuve Sépik en Papouasie Nouvelle Guinée. Les dessins de cette statue sont ceux que l'on retrouve peints sur le corps des participants aux cérémonies d'initiation. Ils s'inspirent principalement des écailles de crocodile. Ce type de figure fait référence au premier couple du clan ( ici l'ancêtre masculin ). Ce personnage arbore fièrement une coiffe et porte un collier Kina, témoignage de son haut rang. Ocre rouge, chaux, bois noirci et fibres naturelles.
