Rare extrémité de tambour à fente de village collecté dans le village de Darapap en Papouasie Nouvelle Guinée (voir type de tambour sur la dernière photo). Sculpture montrant un personnage typique de la région des lacs Murik (embouchure du fleuve Sépik) représentant un ancêtre anthropozoomorphe mi homme mi oiseau. Sculpture ajourée en partie arrière évoquant des plantes et/ou animaux totémiques (mante religieuse ?). Dessins gravés réhaussés de chaux. Pièce unique en bois dense. 

Rare slit drum's end collected in the village of Darapap in Papua New Guinea (see which kind of slit gong drum on last picture). Carving showing a typical figure from the Murik Lakes area at the mouth of the Sepik River, representing an anthropozoomorphic ancestor, half man, half bird. Openwork carving on the back evoking totemic plants and/or animals (praying mantis?). Engraved designs enhanced with lime. Single piece made of hard wood.
